About
In Samtskhe-Javakheti
In one day we will show you three completely different attractions, each of which in its own way reveals the historical and natural wealth of the region – Samtskhe-Javakheti.
You will visit Vardzia, an ancient cave complex carved into the rock, and the medieval fortress of Rabati of national importance, and also visit the birthplace of healing springs – Borjomi!
Cave monastery
The cave monastery complex of Vardzia is an outstanding monument of medieval Georgian architecture. More than five hundred rooms are carved directly into the rock, going deep into the rock and rising to a height of eight floors. This monastery was created during the reign of King George III and his daughter, Queen Tamara. Many things are associated with these personalities here: from frescoes to the history of the monastery’s name.
Borjomi waters
On the way, you will be enchanted by the wooded mountains of the Borjomi Reserve. And visiting the monasteries, you will walk near the river and spring among the coniferous trees. In the valley where Borjomi is located, a picturesque city park with a waterfall awaits you. You will learn how the famous mineral water was found and about its healing properties. And then you will be able to swim and taste Borjomi from the springs – cold and warm.
