Wine tour to Kakheti

About

The tour is conducted in a comfortable Toyota Sienna minivan. The car has Wi-Fi, cold water, and a charger.

An unforgettable tour to the cradle of winemaking and the wonderful land of Georgia – Kakheti. Here we will taste real Georgian wine and, what is no less important, learn the history of the craft of winemakers. We will visit the Shumi winery.

What awaits you:
A gray ancient fortress
We will begin our journey from the top of the Gombori Pass (1620 m above sea level), where we will definitely enjoy the beautiful views, sitting in a hammock and sipping hot coffee.

A walk in the very “heart” of Kakheti
After resting, we go for a walk around the city of Telavi, where we will visit the fortress of King Erekle II and admire the beautiful views of the Alazani Valley and the Caucasus Range. Here we arrive at the main places of our wine tour – the winery Corporation Kindzmarauli, where you will try the wine of Kindzmaraulina her homeland. Here you will have a tasting and a tour of the factory. If desired, you can order a master class of Georgian cuisine (khinkali, khachapuri, shashlik, churchkhela).

Homemade wine and delicious shashlik
Our next stop is the women’s monastery in the village of Bodbe.
Where St. Nino spent the last years of her life. And at the end of our tour, we will stop in the beautiful city of love. The city of Sighnaghi, where love and harmony reign. Are you hungry? So go ahead, try home-made Georgian cuisine and the most delicious shashlik in all of Georgia!

The Bodbe women’s monastery is located just 2 km from the city of love Sighnaghi. It is famous for the fact that it is here that the relics of the most revered Saint Nino in Georgia rest.

At different times, there was a monastery for men, a monastery for women, and then a complete desolation. The temple, originally built in the 4th century over the grave of Saint Nino, unfortunately has not survived. At the moment, you can see the Cathedral of Saint George on this site. Its walls were covered with frescoes depicting scenes from the Testaments. Some of them have survived to this day.
